Aqua-Aero WaterSystems

Aqua-Aero WaterSystems is a Dutch company that is committed to developing and producing sustainable, high quality solutions for water needs around the world.

Aqua-Aero WaterSystems has developed the WaterPyramid, a new drinking water concept for communities in rural areas in the tropics (see picture). The WaterPyramid uses simple technology (solar distillation and rainwater harvesting) to produce clean drinking water. The quality of the produced water is extremely high and is almost independent of the source water, which can be salty, brackish, or even polluted.

The operation and maintenance costs of the WaterPyramid are low, it generates income, and a local workforce can be employed to manage the water plant. The energy needed to operate the plant is obtained from the sun, making it independent of infrastructure (which may be absent), power grids, western engineers, etc. The requirements are easy to meet; the WaterPyramid requires only abundant flat space, sun and a source of water. It is designed according to Appropriate Technology standards.
