WASTE

WASTE is an non-profit consultancy group that assists development projects that aim at sustainable improvement of the urban environment. WASTE wants to contribute to amelioration of the living conditions of the low-income population mainly in slum areas and informal settlement.
WASTE is active in the fields of:
- Solid waste management and resource recovery.
- Low-cost and ecological sanitation.
- Integrated environmental improvement.
- Micro- and small enterprise development

WASTE's multi-disciplinary consultancy team (16) based in Gouda facilitates the dissemination of knowledge and supports activities on urban waste and sanitation of southern partners. A network of hand-on expert partners worldwide is maintained and expanded in order to generate relevant knowledge through on-site and applied research and exchange of experiences.
WASTE assistance of partners and clients concentrates for a large part on capacity building in order to enable them to make informed choices and deliver sustainable (smart) services.
WASTE’s programmes are workshops for students from all over the world. WASTE maintains to interactive websites and publishes papers, books and training manuals. WASTE’s library in Gouda contains a comprehensive selection on solid waste and ecological sanitation management.
Projects of WASTE try to ensure that our advise match the local conditions and that improvements can be sustained. Are work built upon and are linked existing structures and capacities. Guiding principle is the concept of Integrated Sustainable Waste Management (ISWM).
